Hibiscus Tea, also known as Agua De Jamaica, is a refreshing Mexican drink that impresses with its sweet and tart flavor. This vibrant tea is perfect as a detox beverage, offering a great way to cool down in the summer or cozy up in the winter. Packed with health benefits, it’s a fantastic choice any time of year.
In a saucepan, combine the desired amount of water with slices of ginger, fresh lemon slices, a few cinnamon sticks, and your preferred amount of sugar.
Heat the mixture until it starts boiling. Let it boil for 2 to 3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld, then switch off the heat.
Sprinkle the dried hibiscus flowers into the hot mixture. Stir well to ensure all the flowers are submerged and start releasing their color and flavor.
Cover the saucepan with a lid and let the brew steep for about 5 to 7 minutes. The longer it steeps, the deeper the flavor and color.
After steeping, uncover and remove the saucepan from the heat. Strain the tea into a pitcher. Cool it in the refrigerator or serve it directly into cups if you prefer it hot.
For a cooling treat, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the strained tea from the pitcher over them. Stir well, and consider adding a sprig of mint or a slice of lime for an extra touch of freshness. Your refreshing Hibiscus Tea is now ready to be enjoyed.

Notes
Here are some of my tips to enhance your Hibiscus Tea experience:
Enhancing Flavor: Usually, you just need hibiscus flowers, water, and sugar. But adding a bit of ginger, cinnamon, and lemon really kicks up the flavor and smell.
Adjusting Concentration: For a well-balanced brew, use ¼ cup of dried hibiscus flowers for every 3 cups of water. If you prefer a stronger flavor, you can increase the amount of hibiscus to up to ½ cup. Just be sure to serve the stronger tea with plenty of ice to dilute it as needed.
Balancing Tartness with Sweeteners: To counteract the natural tartness of Agua De Jamaica, consider adding sugar, honey, or other sweeteners according to your taste.
Spice It Up: For a warming winter drink, add a pinch of nutmeg or clove along with the cinnamon. These spices complement the tartness of the hibiscus and add a cozy warmth to the tea.
