What is Shirley Temple Drink?
Shirley Temple Drink is a bright pink-colored fizzy non-alcoholic drink made with grenadine syrup, ginger ale, lemon-lime soda, and maraschino cherries. It is one of the kids-friendly drinks and known to be one of the first mocktail drinks prepared for the actress Shirley Temple.
It was said that the drink was first prepared for the actress in the 1930s. As a child star, she often attended many parties with adults where she could not enjoy alcoholic drinks that were prepared for adults. Hence the bartenders prepared a mocktail using the basic non-alcoholic syrup, soda, and cherries. Since then the drink became popular across the United States and enjoyed by kids and adults.
This bubbly and refreshing drink is one of the simplest drinks to make and you can enjoy it as a party treat or summer refreshment.
Ingredients
The ingredients you will need to make this Shirley Temple Drink are minimal and it should be easily available in most supermarkets around. So let us see what are they below.
- Grenadine Syrup - It is a syrup made with pomegranate and sugar. It gives the pretty pink color to the drink
- Lemon Lime Soda - Lemon lime soda is nothing but carbonated, colorless soft drinks with lemon and lime flavoring such as Sprite or 7UP. I have used 2 ounce of lemon-lime soda but you can go upto 4 ounce
- Ginger Ale - I have used 4 ounce here, you can also feel free to skip and use only lemon lime soda. If you are using lemon soda alone then use 6 ounce of it
- Maraschino Cherries - To garnish the drink
- Ice Cubes - Loads of ice cubes to chill the drink

Hello!
What exactly is lemon lime soda? It seems you are trying to hide the brand name. What are you afraid of? I have no idea what to buy in this regard. Any help is appreciated!

Hi Michael,
Thanks for reaching out to me and I appreciate your feedback. Lemon lime soda is nothing but carbonated, colorless soft drinks with lemon and lime flavoring such as Sprite or 7UP. Like I mentioned in the ingredients section, I have diluted Lime concentrate with plain Soda as the lemon lime soda was not handy to me. But I understand your concern that it was not clearly represented on the picture nor the text and I will take care of it. And no, I am not afraid of anything 🙂 It is just that I don't want to promote brands to the user as they may prefer different brand or don't like promoting brands at all. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.
