Ingredients
The ingredients that you will need to make this Grilled Salmon are simple and they should be easily available in most grocery stores.
- Salmon Fillets - I have used salmon fillets with skin but you could also use without skin and evn salmon steak works good for this recipe
- Olive Oil - You can choose oil that has got high smoking point, and mild or neutral tasting flavor
- Garlic - Add lot of minced garlic that delivers a fresh aroma and taste
- Paprika and Pepper Powder - Paprika usually does not have high spice in it and it gives a nice red color to your fish. I have also added pepper to increase the heat
- Lime Zest and Juice - Feel free to use lemon or lime. Since I had lime handy I used it
- Parsley - Fresh or dried parsely to give some fresh touch to dish
Grilled Salmon Marinade

How to make Grilled Salmon?
This recipe is made with Salmon fillets with skin and a grilling pan to grill them. But I have shared some tips about how to grill them in a cedar plank, charcoal, or gas grill if you are looking for one. The grilling Pan method is an easy way to achieve a similar smokey flavor and taste indoors, so yeah without further delay let's jump into the process.
Following are the high-level instructions of this recipe and for detailed step-by-step instructions with photos and video please check out the recipe card below.
- Marinate the Fish fillets - Add a generous amount of the marinade that we have already prepared and brush evenly to coat on all sides
- Rest it for 10 minutes - Resting them for few minutes will help the fish to absorb all the flavors from the marinade
- Grill - Now preheat the grilling pan for 5 to 7 minutes in medium heat. Brush the grilling pan with high smoke point neutral tasting oil and place the fish fillets one by one. Grill each side for about 5 to 7 minutes or until the fish flakes with fork easily
- Serve - Now the delicious smokey flavored Grilled Salmon is ready to taste and enjoy. Serve hot with veggie salad, rice or similar other dishes
Note: For a more charred exterior you can grill the fish on high for the last few minutes.
Grilling Temperature and Time
The Salmon brings out its juicy texture taste and flavor whether it is done on Cedar Plank, Charcoal, or Gas grill. I have already mentioned above about grilling in a grill pan, so this section is all about other methods and the right time and temperature to make it perfect.
- Charcoal Grill - For Charcoal grill, the temperture can be from 470 to 500 degrees Farenheit. Similar to oven preheat them with its lid closed for about 10 minutes. Now place the seasoned salmon fillets on the grill cook on each side for about 5 to 7 minutes or until it easily flakes off
- Gas Grill - Preheat your gas grill in medium around 380 to 400 degrees Farenheit. Place the marinated Salmon fillets on the grill and close and cook for 5 to 7 minutes. Open the lid and flip to other side and grill again for 5 to 7 minutes or until the fish easily flakes with a fork
- Cedar Plank - Soak the cedar plank in water for 2 hours and preheat your charcoal or gas grill as mentioned above. Place the cedar plank with enough space on the grill and place the seasoned salmon on it. Close and grill for 12 to 15 minutes until the salmon turns uniformly pink
