How to make this Stuffed Chicken Breast?
The recipe I have shared here is the classic Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast made with fresh ingredients. This recipe involves 3 important steps seasoning the breast, stuffing it with filling, and baking it in an oven.
Following are the high-level instructions to make this recipe but for detailed step-by-step instructions with photos and video, please check out the recipe card below.
- Prep Seasoning Mix - In a bowl, add chili, onion, garlic and pepper powder, salt, and Italian herbs. Mix well and reserve the seasoning mix for later use
- Soften - In a bowl, add cream cheese, and soften it using a fork
- Prep Spinach Filling -Add parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, pepper flakes, pepper powder, onion, garlic, mayo, and spinach. Mix well to combine. Reserve this filling aside
- Slit the chicken - Place the chicken breast on the cutting board and make a slit using a sharp knife on the sides of the breast. The slit should look like a pocket as shown in the picture
- Oil Coat - Add a tsp of oil over the chicken breasts and nicely rub it to coat them
- Season - Now add the reserved seasoning mix all over the breasts and rub well to coat
- Stuff the Filling - Add 2 tbsp of the reserved cream cheese spinach filling inside the pockets of each breast. (Note: The chicken breast used here are medium to large size so the filing quantity might vary for smaller breasts)
- Bake - Place the stuffed chicken breast on an oil-greased baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 375° for 30 to 40 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through
- Remove and Serve - Remove the Baked Spinach Stuffed Chicken from the oven and it is now ready for you to taste and enjoy
Tips
- Chicken Breast - Always make sure to slit the breast on the sides just like a pocket to fill the stuffing. And here I have used medium to large size breasts, so I have used around 2 to 3 tbsp of filling for each breast
- Seasoning Mix - You can always feel free to customize the seasoning powders that are ideal for your family
- Cooking Temperature and Time - Since the chicken breasts are large, I have baked them for 40 minutes in a preheated oven at 375°F. However, the timing may vary based on the size of the breasts
- Reheating - Always make sure to cover the baking tray with foil, if you are planning to reheat them. This will avoid the breasts turning hard. And I would suggest reheating them in a preheated oven at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes. You could also reheat them in the microwave for 40 to 50 seconds in a microwave-safe bowl. But I suggest sprinkling some water while reheating to avoid turning them hard
Storage Suggestions
This Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast tastes great when served warm as soon as it is prepared. So I would recommend it to store as it may not be as good as fresh. But you could reheat them in the microwave for 40 to 50 seconds in a microwave-safe bowl if it is out for some time. But I suggest sprinkling some water while reheating to avoid turning them hard.
Serving Suggestions
This Stuffed Chicken Breast tastes great on its own but you can also serve it with roasted potatoes, roasted green beans, roasted asparagus, roasted vegetables, salad, or rice
